Commemorating the inscription of Korea's Jang-making culture as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and celebrating its 20th anniversary, this festival aims to establish Sunchang's identity as the home of traditional fermented pastes and promote the excellence of K-Food to the world as Korea's representative fermented food festival. It features over 50 diverse programs in 8 categories, including experience programs, cultural performances, exhibitions, and sales, all centered around traditional fermented pastes. Visitors can taste spicy and savory dishes made with Sunchang gochujang (chili paste). Special and unique experiential programs only available at the Sunchang Fermented Soybean Paste Festival will also be presented, such as the 'Sunchang Gochujang Royal Tribute Parade' performance, 'Fermented Country 1997', and 'Let's Boil, Pound, and Make Meju from Soybeans'. This year, to celebrate its 20th anniversary, a variety of programs including 'Find the Golden Meju' and 'You and I, Coming of Age' fermented product discount events will also be held.

The Sunchang Fermented Soybean Paste Festival consists of over 50 diverse programs in 8 categories. Main programs include 'Royal Tribute Parade', 'Fermented Country 1997', 'Let's Make Gochujang Together', 'Traditional Fermented Paste Culture School', and 'Let's Boil, Pound, and Make Meju from Soybeans'. Ancillary programs include 'Spicy Food Contest', 'Catch! Teenieping in the Land of Flavors', 'Fermented Youth Madness Contest', 'Find Jangchu King', 'Find the Golden Meju', 'You and I, Coming of Age', and 'DJ&EDM Light Show Fermented Paste Village "Let's Play with Zombies"'. Consumer participation programs include the 'Fermented Paste Product Discount Event' (20% discount + 10% equivalent gift certificate upon receipt verification), and other local resident participation programs include 'Folk Games Contest', 'Township/Township Nongak Contest', and 'Sunchang Art Festival'.
Admission is free. Some experiential booths for performances and event programs are also available for free. Food stalls, food trucks, and experience & sales booths are paid.
