Iksan is a thousand-year-old Baekje capital where the legend of Seodong and the Seodongyo song live on. It is the birthplace of Seodong, who won the love of Princess Seonhwa through Seodongyo and eventually ascended as King Mu, the 30th monarch of Baekje, aiming for the unification of the Three Kingdoms. The Iksan Seodong Festival is a historical and cultural festival that tells the story of the cross-border love between Seodong (King Mu) of Baekje, born in Iksan 1400 years ago, and Princess Seonhwa of the rival Silla kingdom. It began in 1969 as the Mahan Folk Festival and was renamed the Iksan Seodong Festival in 2004, held annually ever since. Centered around the figure of 'Seodong,' it is the only historical figure festival in Jeonbuk Province, offering programs and content enjoyable for children and families.
Held at Jungang Sports Park and Sinheung Neighborhood Park area. The address is 322 Hanaro, Eoyang-dong, Iksan-si, Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province.
It will be held from May 1, 2026, to May 3, 2026.
Key programs include the Great Some Parade and the Seodong Selection Contest. Experience programs feature the Millennium Mission Road and Baekje Market Street. Stage programs consist of the King Mu Ancestral Rite, Theme Performance, Dream Orchestra, Children's Seodongyo Festival, National Seodong Dance Festival, Excitement Stage, Some Sound Rock Festival, Youth Song Festival, Yerak Iksan, Street Play Parade, King Mu Arts Festival, and Iksan Street Dance Fighter. The ancillary program is the Seodong Extreme Zone.
