The Gimje Horizon Festival, the only honorary representative cultural tourism festival designated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism that focuses on traditional agricultural culture, is centered around the Gimje Byeokgolje Reservoir, the oldest and largest irrigation facility in Korea. Visitors can enjoy various attractions, including the President's Cup National Nongak Competition held on the horizon stage, various agricultural culture experience programs such as making rice in a traditional furnace, catching grasshoppers, and rice harvesting, as well as traditional events like the Byeokgolje Twin Dragon Play legend and the Ipsook Tug-of-War for a bountiful harvest, which can be directly participated in on-site.
President's Cup Gimje Horizon National Nongak Competition: The only President's Cup competition among national festival competitions, where teams representing local nongak from across the country participate to experience the essence of our traditional nongak. - Byeokgolje Legend Twin Dragon Play: A representative traditional cultural performance based on the twin dragon legend associated with Byeokgolje, the main stage of the Gimje Horizon Festival, featuring a dramatic performance and participation from residents of Buryang-myeon, Gimje-si. - Ipsook Tug-of-War for a Bountiful Harvest: A traditional folk game wishing for a bountiful harvest on Jeongwol Daeboreum (the first full moon of the lunar year), operated by residents of Gyo-dong, Gimje-si, as a representative traditional cultural performance.
Daeji Art Zipline Experience: A unique leisure sports experience that crosses over the large-scale Daeji Art (rice paddy experience field) created at Byeokgolje. - Traditional Furnace Rice Cooking: An experience for families to cook and eat gamasotbap (rice cooked in an iron pot) directly in a small traditional furnace. - Horizon Kite Flying: The nation's largest kite-flying project, allowing participants to fly various kites simultaneously.
LED Daeji Art: Nightscape creation by installing lights fitting the festival's theme on Daeji Art that depicts Ssarikongi wearing hanbok, welcoming visitors with the abundance and warmth of the horizon. - Ssarikongi Bale Art Exhibition: A bale art exhibition showcasing the festival's emotions, featuring various drawings from Ssarikongi characters to popular characters. - Horizon Final Fantasy Show: A spectacular festival night and a large-scale night attraction, a final media show combining lasers, lighting, fireworks, and multimedia.
Local Specialty Food Booths: Sales of not only representative dishes from eup/myeon/dong (administrative divisions) but also dishes from representative local restaurants selected through the 'Matbojago Competition,' a project to select Gimje's best restaurants to eradicate poor food quality at local festivals. - Horizon Greeting Street: Snack sales booths for young people to enjoy. - Agricultural and Specialty Products Direct Sales Market: Sales of raw agricultural, livestock, and marine products, processed goods, and specialty products produced in Gimje.
