The Ulsan Onggi Festival is Korea's only specialized festival with onggi (earthenware), which has been with the Korean people for over a thousand years, as its theme. As the festival is held in Oegosan Onggi Village in Ulju-gun, where onggi is traditionally produced, it naturally promotes onggi, a representative local specialty, and contributes to the widespread use of everyday onggi and the development of traditional industries. Various experiences, exhibitions, and performances are prepared, starting from onggi-making demonstrations by artisans.
Various programs are operated at the festival. Main programs include the Onggi Special Experience Center, Onggi Clay Playground, Theme Performance, Onggi Bonfire, Onggiland, and Onggi Concert. Subsidiary programs include the Onggi Food Market, Onggi Samgyeopsal (pork belly), Onggi Performance, Resident Participation Performance, and Resident Participation Experience Program. Additionally, consumer participation programs such as the Onggi Festival Pop-up, Onggi Food Market, Onggi Mart (cheap onggi), Flea Market, and Food Trucks can be enjoyed. Programs linked to the Onggi Museum, Onggi Academy Hall, Fermentation Academy Hall, and Public Art Project linked exhibition and experience programs are also offered.
The festival is held at Oegosan Onggi Village (36 Oegosan 3-gil, Onyang-eup, Ulju-gun, Ulsan).
Admission is free, and some programs are charged (1,000 KRW ~ 10,000 KRW).
