Gwangalli Eobang Festival

Festival Highlights
- Busan's representative festival
- Traditional fishing village folklore

The Suyeong region has long been rich in fishery resources and was the first place in Busan to develop fishing. In particular, with the establishment of Gyeongsang Jwasuyeong (Left Naval Command) during the Joseon Dynasty, an 'Eobang' was formed as a cooperative community for fishermen and navy soldiers. The fishing process performed at that time was structured as a play called 'Jwasuyeong Eobang Nori,' which has been preserved and passed down. The Gwangalli Eobang Festival uses 'Eobang' as its festival name to signify the continuation of this tradition and is Busan's representative festival themed around the folklore of Gyeongsang Jwasuyeong and traditional fishing villages.
