Thirty years ago, several young people from Daegwallyeong, the heart of winter in Korea, gathered to create a snow festival. The Daegwallyeong Snow Festival, which began in 1993, is the first winter festival to be held nationwide, boasting a history of over 30 years. It is held annually with the goal of overcoming the winter off-season, vitalizing the local economy, and fostering community harmony, developing into a festival that attracts many tourists. The Daegwallyeong Snow Festival has changed its theme to "The Growth Story of Nundongi, a Winter Sports Prodigy Becoming a National Athlete." You can vividly experience the journey of Nundongi, Pyeongchang's mascot who dreamed of becoming a national sports athlete after watching the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics, as he transforms into a national athlete for the 2026 Milan Olympics, depicted through giant snow and ice sculptures. A dynamic winter sports experience zone awaits, unfolding along Nundongi's growth journey.
