The International Seon Meditation Conference and Seon Meditation Festival, hosted by the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, are held to promote the mental health of the public. Having started in 2024, this year marks its 3rd edition. This year, under the theme of [Seon Meditation in the AI Era], it seeks ways for Seon meditation to help the public's mental health and provides opportunities for people to directly experience various fields of Seon meditation through the associated Seon Meditation Festival.
The main programs include the Opening Ceremony, Seon Meditation Forum, International Conference, Closing Ceremony, and the 2026 Seon Meditation Festival. The Opening Ceremony marks the beginning of the 2026 Seon Meditation Project. The theme of the Seon Meditation Forum is 'AI Era, Why Seon Meditation?'. The International Conference will be held on November 12, 2026, on the theme of 'Seon Meditation in the AI Era'. The Closing Ceremony will take place on November 12, 2026. The 2026 Seon Meditation Festival offers direct experience in various fields of meditation, such as walking meditation, eating meditation, sound meditation, and death meditation. This festival is South Korea's largest meditation festival, with citizens participating at meditation centers and major temples across 9 regions nationwide. Last year, approximately 130,000 people attended, offering diverse programs from traditional to modern meditation to support the mental health of all citizens.
The event will be held at Bongeunsa Temple and Bongeun Culture Center. The address is 531, Bongeunsa-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul (Samseong-dong).
Admission is free.
