With the revision of the Library Act in 2021, April 12th each year was designated as Library Day, and the week following it as Library Week, to enhance public understanding and interest in libraries and promote their use. The first Library Day was commemorated in 2023, and as the third Library Day is celebrated in 2025, Library Week – a library and reading culture campaign led by the Korean Library Association since 1964 – marks its 62nd anniversary this year.
To promote library usage, the Library Day International Conference and a Hackathon will be held at the National Library of Korea from April 12th to 18th, 2026. On April 10th, a Library Day commemorative ceremony will take place at Seonyu Library in Yeongdeungpo-gu. Events will be held at the National Library of Korea and libraries nationwide. The address of the National Library of Korea is 201 Banpo-daero, Seocho-gu, Seoul (Banpo-dong).
Main programs include an International Conference, Hackathon, Commemorative Ceremony, and experiential events. The "Let's Play at the Library" campaign will also be held.
