The 'Dong-gu Mudeungsan Humanities Festival' is a humanities and arts festival held in the area of Jeungsimsa District of Mudeungsan National Park in Gwangju Metropolitan City. Based on the spirit of 'equality' embodied in Mudeung (無等, meaning 'no equal' or 'no rank'), it is a place for humanities activities where every citizen can develop 'their own thoughts' rather than others' ideas and return. One can experience a 'cycle of thought' by briefly emptying (OFF) the noise of daily life, listening to the voices of others to turn on (ON) new thoughts, and expanding that contemplation into values of the era. Beyond a simple festival, it is a place for contemplation where one can ask questions and share thoughts with each other, enjoying the leisure of thought and rest through various programs such as lectures, experiences, performances, and exhibitions in the nature of Mudeungsan in early summer.
It is held in the Jeungsimsa District of Mudeungsan National Park, and the address is 71, Jeungsimsa-gil, Dong-gu, Gwangju (Unrim-dong).
Main programs include the Humanities Concert, 1187 Library, Humanities Talk, and Essay Contest for Thoughts in the [Square for Turning On Thoughts]; Digital Detox, LP Listening Session, Silent Reading, and Poetry Reading in the [Forest for Turning Off Thoughts]; Busking Performance and Humanities City Network Exhibition in the [Pathway of Thoughts]; and Uijae-ro Area Museum-linked Exhibition and Humanities Contemplation Garden in the [Expansion of Thoughts].
