Traditional cultural events, including the Namsan Beacon Fire Ceremony, are hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. These events recreate the communication methods of the Joseon Dynasty, introducing our unique traditional culture to citizens and domestic and international tourists, and providing opportunities to enjoy culture. The Namsan Beacon Station was an important communication method during the Joseon Dynasty, gathering beacon fires from all over the country and signaling the situation to the capital city. Visitors can watch the Namsan Beacon Fire Ceremony at the Namsan Beacon Station and listen to historical explanations.
The main program is the Namsan Beacon Fire Ceremony at Namsan Beacon Station. Side events and programs include the Bosingak Citizen's Permanent Bell-Ringing Ceremony, traditional cultural performances, and the daily beacon keeper experience. The Bosingak Citizen's Permanent Bell-Ringing Ceremony, held daily at noon, is a participatory event for citizens and tourists. Samulnori performances and traditional martial arts demonstrations can be watched at the Palgakjeong Pavilion Plaza of Namsan Tower in Seoul, and experiential programs such as the daily 'Gyeongjeomgwan' (timekeeper) experience are also available.
