Hongcheon Wild Edible Greens Festival

Festival Highlights
- Various wild edible greens
- Free admission

Hongcheon County boasts the largest area in the country, with 85% of its territory surrounded by mountains, offering a pristine natural environment. Thanks to its geographical characteristics, where the altitude increases towards the east, various wild edible greens grow naturally, making it an optimal location for cultivating them. Hongcheon and Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province have collaborated to create a festival where visitors can encounter clean wild edible greens from across Gangwon in one place. A diverse feast of wild edible greens awaits, including crispy Myeonginamul (wild garlic) with its pungent aroma and sweet aftertaste, Chamdurup (angelica tree shoots) filling the air with a fresh forest scent, and Eomnamusun (prickly ash shoots) that become more savory with each chew.
The festival period is from May 1st to May 3rd, 2026. It will be held at Torisup Urban Forest Park, located at 501 Galmagok-ri, Hongcheon-eup, Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province.
Experiential events include wild edible greens seedling planting, wild edible greens art picnic, a ball pit, wild edible greens events, natural dyeing, traditional Korean medicine, photo printing, and traditional tteokme-chigi (rice cake pounding). Stage events feature performances by local art groups and clubs, a national dance competition, a guerrilla concert, a wild edible greens quiz, audience participation events, 'Hope Song at Noon', a 'New Spring Concert', and singer performances. Sales events offer wild edible greens, wild ginseng, Hongcheon agricultural specialty products, Hanwoo pork, a self-service restaurant and local eateries, food stalls, and outdoor food vendors. Side events include an opening ceremony and a wild edible greens guessing event. Promotional exhibition events include the Hongcheon County Tourist Information Center, Wild Edible Greens and Wildflower Exhibition Hall, Wild Ginseng Exhibition Hall, and Hongcheon Enterprise Promotion Hall.
Admission is free.
