The Gunpo Azalea Festival is Gunpo City's representative festival, featuring a rich array of experiences and cultural arts programs centered around the Azalea Garden, which was created by citizens on the barren hillside of Sanbon New Town where transmission towers were built over 20 years ago. Held annually from late April to early May, visitors can admire over 220,000 fully bloomed azaleas. It is an urban festival accessible by subway, offering happiness and healing to visitors and participants in the adjacent Car-Free Street and Azalea Park festival venues. Especially for its 12th anniversary this year, the festival presents a splendid opening ceremony on the special stage of the Car-Free Street, Gunpo-specialized products, photo zones to add emotion, various foods and experiences, and citizen participation events.
