This is a representative spring festival of Dalseong-gun, Daegu, a nature-culture convergence festival held to coincide with the blooming period of the chamkkot (azalea) colony spread across the peak of Biseulsan Mountain. Since its inception in 1997, it has widely promoted the local identity, focusing on 'chamkkot,' the symbol of Dalseong-gun, and has established itself as a leading cultural tourism festival, attracting visitors from all over the country every April. Biseulsan Mountain is a high-altitude area over 1,000m above sea level, with the nation's largest chamkkot colony spanning approximately 300,000 pyeong (about 99 hectares) around its peak. In spring, the entire mountain presents a spectacular view bathed in pink. Based on this outstanding natural scenery, the festival is richly operated with various programs that allow visitors to experience the value of nature and combine it with culture and art, coinciding with the chamkkot blooming season.
